Today, I ran out of one of the medications I take for pain. It actually is the one that works the best for me and helps decrease the pain the most. I called my doctor office and they were closed. I reached the call center and they had a nurse call me. The nurse told me she couldn't call in the specific medication that I needed and so I hung up, bummed. Later, I decided that the answer I received wasn't good enough and I was going to call back. I asked them to try to make an exception or have the physician on call call me back. The doctor on call called me and was willing to send in a prescription for me. I was so happy! I got what I needed. This is just one example. I'm quickly learning that I need to be my own advocate and fight for myself so I can get what I need and get it quickly.
Living with and sharing my Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome journey. Learning how to keep hope, happiness and faith everyday. These are my thoughts, my dreams, my struggles and pain. I'm not asking for pity, I'm asking for compassion, and also trying to educate.

Being My Own Advocate
I have learned that I can't rely on anyone else to be my advocate. I cannot wait for someone else to get me what I need and fight for me. I know there are people in my life that are willing to fight for me, but I know that I will never totally get what I need unless I'm fighting for it.
